Do you need to lubricate bullets?
Cast bullets require lubrication to prevent leading. Bullet lube serves not only to lubricate the passage of the bullet down the bore but also to seal the propellant gases behind the base. One of the most important properties of this lubricant is that it must be able to flow to be most effective.
What is bullet Lubing?
In summary, bullet lube is pumped from the lube groove to the barrel surface by compression, linear acceleration and radial acceleration. This injection process forms a floating fluid gasket around the bullet, and serves to limit gas cutting and is a kind of ballistic stop-leak.

Do you need to size 9mm cast bullets?
The 9mm operates at pressures that require special care when shooting cast bullets. Most cast bullet shooters know that cast bullets need to be larger than the groove diameter for best results. Groove diameters in 9mm barrels vary from 0.354” to 0.361”.
What does sizing a bullet mean?
Ammunition is generally expressed in a measurement. The measurements in metric are almost always a “diameter to length” ratio; for example, a bullet in the caliber: 5.56x45mm is 5.56mm wide and 45mm long. 9x19mm cartridge is 9mm wide and 19mm long.
How do you Lube Your Bullets?
The Mason jar has a handle (the type used to drink out of) and holds sufficient lube to process 180 bullets, which is enough for three silhouette matches and the number that I cast and normally lube at one time. With the handle, it’s convenient for pouring the hot lube into the lubing pan or bowl.
How much lube do you put on a bullet Sizer?
Those 2 pounds of lube will work for many thousands of bullets. To use the Lee bullet sizer with conventional bullets and lubes you’ll need to pan lube the bullets. Get an old baking pan, preferably one you will never use again for food preparation, and stand your bullets up in it.
